Search Engine Optimization, known as “SEO” in the industry, is the art and science of getting a company, product, or service to the top of Google. It’s all about how websites appear in search engines. When someone types in a search for “best pizza near me” or “funny dog videos,” among countless other incoming searches, Google tries to figure out the “best match” between websites and the user’s search query. Businesses optimize their websites for search to ensure their site appears in relevant searches. SEO, in other words, is “speaking Google” correctly and efficiently.
SEO can be tricky, however. SEO encompasses keywords, links, Google reviews (particularly for local businesses), website speed, and technical features. All factors work together to create success at SEO. Nowadays, there are also AI tools that can aid in driving website traffic. AI tools can refer to ChatGPT or Google AI summaries. (Hence, AI tools both enable SEO and are subject to SEO, as people turn to Google AI overviews and ChatGPT to find companies, products, or services). Many companies struggle with SEO. And there can be legal problems, and they can get messy.
SEO is confusing. The tricky part can be deciphering what the data means. I can assist in pulling and finding the data, then create a report that is easy for the client to understand, covering everything from keywords to rank on Google to actual results. Interpreting the data and putting it in layperson’s terms is something that an expert witness in SEO can do to assist. As an expert witness in search engine optimization, my primary role is to help lawyers and the court understand the data.
SEO Expert Can Help Legal Matters
And in the land of law, SEO can cause problems! A company can mention another company’s brand name in its SEO tactics, and suddenly it’s a trademark fight. That’s where an SEO expert witness, such as I am, can be extremely useful.. I can help figure out what happened and explain it to a judge or jury. I can identify whether the company is using incorrect keywords, intentionally copying content, or doing so unintentionally.
I have a knack for simplifying the complicated world of search engine optimization in plain English. I can cover the complex technical aspects, translate the data, and simplify it. I need to be certain he can make sense of what happens in court. That way, the lawyer can present a vivid, fact-based narrative. This is so the Judge and jury can decide fairly on facts.
