I manage a lot of client advertising money, and some of my own, here in San Francisco. In fact, I’m just minutes away from Facebook headquarters in Menlo Park. On a bad day, I sometimes fantasize about driving over to Menlo Park, and having a mini protest in front of Facebook about how terrible, rotten, no good, and just downright stupid their advertising platform is and – especially their non-existent tech support. You’d think you were dealing with a tiny startup with no budget, because Facebook has zero, zip, nada, no phone support.
You cannot call Facebook.
You can’t even chat to Facebook anymore (or they’ve so thoroughly hidden this that it’s impossible to find).
Today, for example, I am setting up a new client with a new Facebook advertising campaign. I am an “Admin” on the Page, I understand how to advertise, and yet – Facebook keeps continually trying to attach “his” ads to my “personal” Facebook account. I have the “Facebook business manager” (https://business.facebook.com/) but even there, I can’t for the life of me figure out how to set up the client billing.
Then, there’s the useless Facebook tech support options. I tried posting to their forum, here. And I followed the instructions for Facebook advertising help. Guess what? You can a) email them, and maybe they’ll call you back but you better be “at your phone” when they call because you can NOT call them. On top of that, you can read their pretty useless help files about advertising, which are all, super super general.
Or you can advertise on Google, which has very good tech support, and real people who actually answer the phone. It is just amazing that Facebook has such minimal tech support even for “new advertisers” or agencies. It’s a great platform for advertising but not because of the people, tech support or anything else.
Zuckerberg are you out there?
